Anxiety Management Counselling

Anxiety Management Counselling helps teens and young adults understand how anxiety shows up in their mind and body, build self-awareness, and learn strategies to feel calmer and more in control — at school, at home, and in everyday life.

"How do I know if Anxiety is an issue for my child?"

Anxiety can show up in many ways, and some worry is completely normal. It may be worth getting support when worry, overthinking, avoidance, or physical stress symptoms start interfering with school, routines, sleep, friendships, or confidence — and it’s been going on consistently.

These sessions are very helpful when:

•    Overthinking or intrusive worries feel hard to shut off
•    Ongoing worry about school, friendships, or specific events
•    Avoiding activities/situations that used to be manageable
•    Physical stress symptoms (stomach aches, headaches, nausea, sleep issues, fatigue)
•    Feeling unlike themselves due to stress and worry
•    A diagnosis of an anxiety disorder (or suspected anxiety)

"As a parent, I feel a huge boulder has been lifted from my shoulders knowing my daughter has someone to talk to during difficult times"

– Cynthia H, Ottawa Parent

FAQS
"Why is my child showing signs of anxiety?"

Youth anxiety is a common experience, and many factors contribute to this, including social media, effects from the pandemic, peer pressure, and high expectations from themselves or from their parents/caregivers. Left unaddressed, these expectations can exacerbate anxiety symptoms. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) helps young people notice anxious thought patterns, understand triggers, and practice healthier responses and coping strategies.

A young person can gain better control over their anxiety by identifying their triggers and implementing healthy coping mechanisms.  My goal is to restore your child's control over their lives and to empower them to become happier, more confident, and peaceful individuals.

"What do these counselling sessions consist of?"

Families can expect a safe, supportive environment where I will build a personalized plan using

evidence-informed approaches (including CBT strategies and nervous system regulation tools). Sessions focus on understanding anxiety, recognizing patterns and triggers, practicing coping strategies, and strengthening routines that support calm and confidence. Parent guidance can be included so the strategies carry into daily life.

"Where do these sessions take place?"

Our sessions are available in a variety of formats best suited for your needs.

"What results can I expect to see?"

Many people notice positive shifts as skills build and the plan becomes part of everyday life — including more calm, better sleep, and more confidence in handling stress.
