'Healthy Routes' is a youth mentoring service that offers healthy outlets for anxious adolescents through forms of cocoon therapy, walk-and-talk sessions, and virtual “after-school” calls.

We teach valuable life skills that help youth cope with stress, avoid substance abuse, and build self-esteem while offering an extra support system for parents to help them manage the increasingly complex natures of teen mental health and wellbeing.

Changing lives everyday

Support systems built for you

Welcome to Healthy Routes, a safe space for families, teens and young adults to find proactive and recovery-based solutions to help them navigate the ongoing stressors and circumstances surrounding addiction, mental health and healthy self-esteem.

Our mission is to create an environment in which all families feel safe to heal and grow while receiving the support and practical strategies they need.

As a team, we aim to help you and your family overcome circumstances that may feel unmanageable on your own by providing support, maintenance, and management.

How we're helping others like you

We work with individuals and with families to help restore trust, esteem and harmony in the home. We are well-positioned to help those suffering directly or indirectly from the effects of addictions, low self-esteem/body image issues and behavioural conditions.

We offer group services in the format of Youth Workshops, Parent Education and Online Support Groups. We also provide one-on-one coaching/counselling format sessions for families and individuals who are looking for private and dedicated support. We are pleased to offer a new form of counselling known as "walk and talk" to our clients in our immediate area (Ottawa, ON). This type of counselling is beneficial for young people who are uncomfortable with the formal office environment or video conferencing support. Many of our services and programs are also available online via Zoom, serving clients from across North America.

About

Our Specialties

We specialize in helping families and individuals suffering through the effects of addictions, self-esteem (self-worth) and behavioural problems.

Our team of specialists and advisors take a multi-disciplinary approach to the issues our clients and their families are experiencing. We look at a person as being more than their "labels" (conditions or behaviours) and develop solutions based on them as a whole (body, mind and soul). Throughout our time together, we may often employ:

These popular educational workshops are informative sessions where individuals and their families come together to learn about substance abuse and mental health disorders and how to deal with them.

Solution-Focussed Therapy

As a goal-oriented method, Solution-Focused Therapy is considered an effective treatment for many. The focus is on the client's well-being rather than the issue. This process aims to focus on strengths rather than weaknesses and provide coping strategies to reach goals in the future.

Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy

Changing one's mindset is crucial in helping someone resolve stress, grief, and difficult relationships.

The CBT technique helps to identify such thinking, challenge it, and replace it with rational, objective thinking. Additionally, it explores how the world around us impacts our emotions and how we process information about it.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

In acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) you focus on accepting your thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or circumstances as they are. In addition, it encourages the pursuit of healthy, constructive activities that align with your values or objectives. Mindful modalities are incorporated with this type of therapy.

Individual Coaching/ Counselling

Individuals work with a coach or counsellor to cope with life's difficulties if they cannot handle them on their own therapy. The main goal is often to inspire change or enhance the quality of life. Counselling can be helpful for people struggling with life issues and needing a non-judgemental safe space to open up.

Parent Support Coaching/Counselling

These types of services provide parents with knowledge, tools and guidance; most importantly, they provide support without bias or judgment. Creating or improving relationships between a child (of any age) and parent is the objective.
