More than a place to talk.
Helping people navigate life's twists, turns, and transitions.

Healthy Routes is a counselling and life skills practice dedicated to helping teens, young adults, and parents navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.
My unique hybrid approach combines counselling with coaching, offering both the emotional support to work through life's challenges and the practical life skills needed to move forward with confidence.

Because every stage of life brings different challenges, I offer three specialized services, each designed to support a different stage of life's journey.
Whether you're a teen building confidence, a young adult finding your direction, or a parent looking for guidance and connection, each service is tailored to help you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose.
Explore the one that fits where you are today.

The Space Between
A Six-Month Coaching Program for Young Adults (17-25yrs)
Growing into adulthood isn't always as straightforward as people make it seem.
This program is designed for young adults taking a gap year, leaving college or university, or feeling stuck and unsure of what's next, this structured coaching program combines practical life skills with personalized support. If you're feeling overwhelmed, lacking direction, or trying to figure it all out on your own, we'll work together to build confidence, strengthen emotional resilience, improve communication and decision-making, develop greater independence, and create a clear path toward a future that feels meaningful and uniquely your own.

What families are saying...
"This hasn't just helped our teen boy, it's also helped us. The support goes beyond sessions. It's not just helpful - it feels like someone actually gets it, and gets us. Jen's not just helping one person, she's walking with the whole family."
– Barrhaven Mom
"I wasn't sure what to expect but as soon as we met we just clicked and I felt like I could share everything with you. You helped me see better options."
– Female Teen (Barrhaven, 17)
“You adapted quickly to our son's needs and gave us information that helped us ease his fears when they become an issue again.”
– Father (Ottawa, ON)
Why I Wrote-
Not Today, Frank!
Jen LeClair Avery, Founder of Healthy Routes
Life Skills Educator / Family Addiction Counselor (CCAC-50325)
Over the years, I kept hearing the same questions from teens, young adults, and parents: Why do I feel this way? Why is this so hard? Why didn't anyone ever teach me this? That's why I wrote Not Today, Frank!—to make emotions, confidence, anxiety, and everyday challenges easier to understand and even easier to navigate.
Written with the same practical, relatable approach I bring to every session, the book combines real-life stories, simple strategies, and meaningful insights you can put into practice right away. Whether you're a teen, a young adult, or a parent trying to better understand the journey, you'll find tools that help make sense of what's happening beneath the surface. My hope is that you'll walk away feeling more confident, more understood, and better equipped to navigate whatever comes next.

You're Always Welcome Here
