For Teens & Emerging Adults
When Is It More Than Just Worry?

Every teen and young adult experiences stress, worry, and anxious moments from time to time. That's a normal part of growing up.
Support can be helpful when anxiety begins affecting everyday life—making it harder to enjoy school, friendships, activities, sleep, or simply feel like themselves.
You may notice your teen or young adult is:
-
Constantly overthinking or unable to "switch off" their thoughts
-
Worrying excessively about school, friendships, or everyday situations
-
Avoiding activities, social situations, or experiences they once enjoyed
-
Experiencing headaches, stomach aches, nausea, fatigue, or difficulty sleeping without a clear medical reason
-
Losing confidence or withdrawing from family and friends
-
Living with a diagnosis of anxiety—or showing signs that anxiety may be playing a role
FAQS
"Is this normal stress, or could it be anxiety?"
Growing up comes with its share of stress. School, friendships, family dynamics, sports, social media, and the pressure to fit in can all create moments of worry and overwhelm.
The difference is when those feelings begin sticking around and start getting in the way of everyday life.
If your teen is avoiding situations they once enjoyed, constantly overthinking, struggling to sleep, becoming more withdrawn, or reacting more intensely than usual, anxiety may be playing a bigger role than you realize.
The good news is that anxiety can be managed. With the right support, young people can learn to better understand what's happening, build confidence, and develop practical strategies that help them feel calmer, more capable, and back in control.
