Redefining what support looks like in our teens.

Interview of Jen Avery LeClair, by Danielle Baker (with permission)

If you’ve ever worried your teen is pulling away or acting distant, this video offers a grounded, compassionate look at what’s really going on beneath the surface. I walk you through the subtle signs that your child may be silently struggling and explain why “fixing” isn’t the answer — meaningful connection is. I share how support can look different than what most parents expect: less pressure, more understanding. This is a must-watch if you’re hoping to reconnect with your teen before things escalate.

Not Today Frank: Helping Our Teens Take The Lead with Jennifer LeClair

Interview of Jen Avery LeClair, by Danielle Baker (with permission)

If you’ve ever wished your teen had a simple, relatable way to understand their emotions, this video walks you through the heart behind my book Not Today, Frank! I share what inspired me to write it, who “Frank” really is, and why this book has become just as powerful for parents as it is for teens. You’ll hear how the tools inside help teens make sense of anxiety, self-doubt, and overwhelm — and why so many families are calling it a universal self-help guide. If you’re looking for something that truly connects with teens and gives them language for what they feel, this is the place to start. Purchase book.

Jen LeClair Avery is the founder of Healthy Routes, author of "Not Today Frank" and "The Kids Self Esteem Workbook" —and active advocate for youth mental health. She specializes in the power of proactive strategies to help reduce the long-term consequences of low self-esteem, addiction, and self-harm in the home.

With over 25 years of experience as a certified Family Counsellor (specializing in addictions) and Life Skills Educator, and member of the CACCF (Canadian Addictions Counsellor Certificate Federation)–her focus has always been on cultivating higher self-esteem by developing real-life skills and supporting today’s younger generations toward finding purpose and meaning in their own lives. She holds space for others and leads them toward adopting new ways of dealing with setbacks, overcoming obstacles, and regaining their self-worth.

Among Jennifer's many accomplishments, she has led teams creating new curricula, support programs, and updated strategies targeted at young women and youth at risk. As a parent herself, Jen adopted a unique multidisciplinary (and expert-backed) approach that allows her to address the gaps in the system and work through "the tough stuff" together with parents, teens and young adults.
